Ask a Sweet Mint regular what they want from the brand and the answer is usually this: the same mint, more behind it. Nordic Spirit is a JTI brand, created in Sweden in 2018 and on UK shelves since 2019, with the pouches now produced in Poland. Sweet Mint is from the Moist range, which is the label printed on the pack, and the flavour is fresh mint with sweet notes over it. This is the 11mg version, the biggest number Nordic Spirit puts on our shelf, and it is sold as X-Strong on the can. A slim, tobacco free pouch with the brand's sweetest mint and its highest number in the same can.
Sweet notes over fresh mint, held steady through the load
The mint arrives first, cool and fresh, and the sweet notes follow straight behind it, a bit like the mint humbug from the jar at the sweet shop without the sticky bit. The Moist range is made with more moisture in the pouch, which the maker says gives a softer feel and a quicker flavour release, so the sweetness turns up early. At 11mg the mint has a bit more to carry, and it does, keeping the whole thing fresh so the sweet side never takes over. The finish is cool with a little sweetness left on the gum. Proper sweet mint, same on the last pouch as the first.
