Dragon fruit does not turn up on many snus shelves, and when it does it is usually dressed up as something tropical and sweet. Velo Shift Hot Dragonfruit does something different with it. The maker describes this one as dragon fruit flavour with a hint of spices and a balanced heating sensation, which is what the Hot in the name means. Fruit, a pinch of spice, and warmth. Pink fruit, a pinch of spice, a slow warmth
Dragon fruit on its own is light and a little tart, somewhere between a kiwi and a pear, and that is the opening here. Then the spice arrives, a hint of it rather than a handful, and the warmth builds gently behind the fruit the way a ginger biscuit warms after the sweetness. The three settle together and hold steady through the load. The rounded pouch sits soft on the gum, which suits a flavour that is more about warmth than bite. The finish is fruity and warm, and tidy with it.
8mg a pouch, like every can in the Shift line
