Spearmint 9mg, where the green mint gets a proper number
Picture the mint you reach for when peppermint feels a bit too much like toothpaste. That is spearmint, and this is the can where Zyn gives it a number with some weight behind it. Spearmint 9mg sits in Zyn's middle tier, the 6mg to 13.5mg stretch where most of the shelf lives, and it comes in the long slim pouch rather than the little Mini. Here's the thing. Zyn runs Spearmint from 3mg right up to 11mg, and 9mg is the rung where the flavour stops being gentle and starts being direct. Same green mint, bigger pouch, more going on.
Rounded spearmint with a sharper cool behind it
Tuck one in and the spearmint is there straight away, rounded and green rather than icy. The shop's note on this one calls it bolder than the lighter Spearmints, with sharper cooling and clearer definition, and that is a fair description. It is the taste of a fresh stick of spearmint gum on the walk to the station, only it keeps going instead of going flat. The cool is clean, not frosty, and the sweetness stays light underneath. It holds through the load and finishes the way it started. Fair play to it.
9mg a pouch, medium on our scale, fourth rung for Spearmint
Each pouch carries 9mg of nicotine, which lands in our medium band, the one that runs from 8mg to 16mg, down at the gentler end of it. On Zyn's own shelf it sits on the middle tier, 6mg to 13.5mg, with the 1.5mg to 3.5mg Minis below and the 16.5mg cans above. Within Spearmint it is the fourth of five rungs: 3mg and 6mg in the Mini, then 6.5mg, then this can, then 11mg at the top. The pouch is the slim one, long and moist to the touch, so the uptake comes on quicker than it does from a dry Mini. Medium snus with a green mint on top.

For the spearmint regular who has moved past the Minis
This is the can for the spearmint regular who has been on the 6mg Mini and wants the slim pouch and a bit more under it. It also suits anyone who likes peppermint but wants something softer and greener at the same number. If 9mg is the right amount, stay there and enjoy it. Fancy the top of the spearmint ladder? Zyn Spearmint 11mg is the rung above. Want the colder, peppermint version at the same number? Zyn Cool Mint 9mg sits beside it on the shelf. No messing about. Give it a go.
