For many, Zyn has become a way of life, as opposed to a product, or accessory. Zyn Black Cherry stands alone as one of the most important flavours on the market. I have reviewed so many nicotine pouches I should be forgiven for creating a science in my own head as to the criteria by which I rank them! Black Cherry was the next on my hit list, heavily regarded by those around me as one of the best products in the lineup. Ill be the judge of that, ha!         Addressing The Supply Elephant in The Room

        In the US Zyn has been a market leader for about as long as I can remember. As a brand, Zyn stands as the most successful US brand to date in terms of sales. The burning question that eludes even the most hardcore of Zyn fans, is why Zyn releases flavors in other places in the world unavailable in US. Black Cherry is one of them. Perhaps that is why the flavor is so demanded in the US, as access is limited and supply is staggered.

         

        The same can be said of some other brands too. Why product segmentation by geo-location? Maybe to drive demand, perhaps to increase desirability within certain markets. One thing is for certain, the demand for Zyn Black Cherry outstrips domestic supply.

         

        Flavour Profile: What Does It Taste Like

        In each strength, Black Cherry performs to the highest level. There is a depth of flavor that supersedes the depth I have come to expect from Zyn. The cherry flavor takes on a world of excitement, hitting with immediate effect from the outset. Imaging is incredible, like you are chewing on a cherry gum but with an incredibly accurate fruit enhancement. In fact, I was so impressed by the flavor it is one of the only in the lineup that is almost incomparable with other Zyns.

         

        After a few minutes, Black Cherry fades from depth into a nuanced aftertaste that miraculously manages to maintain its accurate note. Honestly, I have to admit that in terms of nicotine pouches, the cherry flavor from Zyn stands as one of the best nicotine pouch fruit flavours I have tried. The accuracy coupled with the depth makes for an enjoyable flavor experience that is beyond what I have tried with many Zyn pouches.

         

        Who Would & Wouldn’t Like The Flavour

        Perhaps one of the only considerations I think could be divisive, retrospectively, is the flavor is more intense than most US Zyn. As such, some Zyn fans could find the intensity something new to contend with. Flavor imaging in its most intense capacity is more of a European thing. Over there, the flavors are designed to push limits of palatable capacity, and there is huge demand for such. So, if you are someone that prefers a more subtle flavor experience, then it could be a dealbreaker. But if you spend time squeezing your pouch in your gum, looking to extract more of a taste, you will absolutely love Black Cherry.

         

        Nicotine Strength & Release

        I like to manage expectation when it comes to discussing nicotine strength as I review on two, as important as each other, factors. There is the nicotine curve, or uptake time, and the total maximal strength. Both play a role in the experience of strength, and both facilitate expectations in different ways.

         

        The nicotine curve is the time it takes to feel the nicotine start to rise and give you the rush or hit you should expect from the total maximal strength. Even at the highest European strengths of 50mg + some pouches take their time to get going. In short, total maximal strength is an indication, but not a measuring stick for the nicotine curve.

         

        The total maximal strength is what it says on the tin, ie: the milligram recording. Zyn Black Cherry comes in three different strength levels at 3mg, 6mg, and 11mg. This total maximal output of milligram strength can be impacted, in my opinion, by flavor and pouch composition. The same can also be said of the nicotine curve, where the overall manufacturing coupled with flavor ingredients can intensify, or degrade the nicotine performance.         How Strong Is Zyn 3mg Black Cherry?

        At 3mg, and having used strengths all the way through from 1.5mg to 150mg, in order to fairly test the strength I needed to make personal adjustments. I figured that using the 3mg first thing in the morning, after a 16 hour no-nicotine time period, would at least give the 3mg a platform to perform. As it happens, I was quite surprised by both the nicotine curve and the maximal output. The curve was more aggressive than I expected it to be, hitting home within minutes of popping one in. The total maximal output, naturally, had a faster taper period than I am personally used to. But, at 3mg, that was to be expected.

         

        Who is 3mg For?

        If you are new to nicotine pouches, but have used nicotine in other forms, you may struggle to obtain a familiar hit. Even at its highest level, the nicotine effects are light, and weathered against products like vapes or cigarettes. But, if you are completely new to nicotine then you could find an airy buzz from the 3mg that lasts a short period and is pretty aggressive on the curve rise. For any user, it will not knock your block off, you can be confident in being able to manage the effects without becoming overawed by them.

         

        How Strong Is Zyn 6mg Black Cherry?

        The 6mg pouches had a more expected elevation, being double the strength of the 3mg. That being said, I felt the nicotine curve was more tempered, despite the maximal output having more lasting effects. What I mean by this is that the nicotine curve was more laboured, but the total maximal strength lasted for minutes more than the 3mg. I guess, in some regards, the 6mg sacrifices nicotine uptake time as more gradual in order for more top end performance. The flavor was as rich as ever, but the experiences were different between the 3mg and 6mg.

         

        Who is 6mg For?

        In my opinion, the 6mg is more of a nicotine pouch that I am personally used to. I can see that frequent users of nicotine will find a more pleasant experience as the top end offers more of a hit. The uptake time is slower, however, so it is not a pouch you would get a five minute break at work satisfaction from. But, it is a pouch that would suffice sitting at your desk with a fifteen minute coffee!

         

        How Strong Is Zyn 11mg Black Cherry?

        This is where things got interesting for me, and more familiar, to say the least. The pouch composition (that we will go into) is slightly different in the 11mg versions. The flavor, as ever, is well presented and balanced. But the strength, as expected, outperforms both the 3mg and 6mg when it comes to curve and maximal output. The 11mg offers a more undulating experience on the curve rise, where you can feel the nicotine taking shape much faster than the lighter variants. And, at the top end, the performance lasted as long as fifteen minutes for me, rivalling some other brands at stronger nicotine levels.

         

        Who is 11mg For?

        For anyone that has vaped, smoked, or used nicotine pouches between 10mg - 20mg, you can feel the effects almost immediately. The rise is both enjoyable and offers a more familiar hit from nicotine from other methods. At its maximal output, you will feel the relaxation that you obtain after a strong cigarette, except packed with Black Cherry flavor. I loved the 11mg pouch, and I loved the comfort of the different textured pouch. The flavor seems a little more intense, than the others, so perhaps a consideration for new users.

        Pouch Feel & Comfort

        In the 3mg and 6mg variants, the pouches are ‘mini’. These pouches are smaller, and have a smaller footprint in the mouth than the 11mg which is ‘regular’. For me, the regular pouches are more preferable, given the longer, and more familiar profile. The key difference for me is in the texture of the pouches between the two different profiles. The regular pouches are smooth, and have a kinder application experience than the mini pouches, that are more grainy. Some people confuse the higher strengths with the pouch tingle that you sometimes get in the gum from pouches. For me, the 6mg had the more pronounced tingle, that negates that hypothesis. Personal preference will be huge in deciding what is right for you between the regular and mini pouches. In terms of discretion, the mini has a smaller footprint, but for me, the regular pouches are the more comfortable choice.

         

        Who Is Black Cherry Zyn For?

        I have tried every fruit nicotine pouch you can imagine, and I can honestly say that Black Cherry is among one of the most accurate representations of a fruit in pouches. If you are someone that enjoys a sweet, un-artificial, flavor, then it could be for you. I can imagine sitting in the boardroom with a mini plugged in, zoned into a meet or a piece of work, having my own private nicotine experience. At the 11mg level, Black Cherry takes on a new form, with a more pronounced flavor and more aggressive nicotine experience. For those new to nicotine, the 3mg and 6mg are a flavorful introduction, and for those transitioning from other nicotine methods, there is one choice, the 11mg.
