Helwit Banana at 7.5mg, the Extra Strong one
Ask a Helwit regular which can surprised them and the banana comes up a lot. The maker says the 3.5mg version won its Helwit Concept vote for 2023 and joined the range off the back of it, and this is that same banana with more behind it. The maker lists it as Banana Extra Strong, and on our shelf it sits in the Strong line, the top of Helwit's three tiers, at 7.5mg a pouch. Like every Helwit it is made by YOIK AB in Sweden at the maker's own factory in Gransholm, outside Växjö. Same white can, same target rings, bigger number. Here's the thing. It is still a soft fruit can at heart, and that is the point of it.
Creamy banana, fuller than the lighter can
Pop one in and it is ripe banana, sweet and creamy, more like the soft yellow foam sweet from the pick and mix than a green one from the fruit bowl. The flavour is fuller here than in the 3.5mg can, with more depth behind the sweetness, but it stays smooth rather than cloying. It holds its shape through the load, and the finish is round and gentle, the creaminess hanging on after the sweetness has gone. No mint, no twist, no other fruit. A banana that knows what it is. Fair play to it.
7.5mg, the Extra Strong number on the Strong line
Every pouch carries 7.5mg of nicotine, which keeps it in our light band, the one that runs up to 8mg, but near the top of it. On Helwit's own ladder it sits in the Strong line, the third of three: Standard at 3.5mg, Regular at 4.5mg, then Strong, where the cans run from 6mg to 9mg. Within that line the banana sits between Menthol at 6mg and Blueberry at 9mg. The maker calls this strength Extra Strong and keeps it above its printed scale of four. No tobacco goes in the pouch; the maker's line is that the nicotine is extracted from the leaf and the leaf stays out. Light snus by our scale, with a bit more behind the banana.

Who takes the banana up to 7.5mg
This is the can for anyone who has been on Helwit Banana 3.5mg and wants the same fruit with more under it, and for the regular who likes a sweet flavour at the higher end of light. If you already use Helwit Cola 7.5mg or Violet 7.5mg, the banana is the fruit can at the same number. Want to go higher still within the brand? Helwit Blueberry 9mg is the top of the Strong line. Prefer it softer? The 3.5mg banana sits on the Standard line below. Give it a go.
