Peppered Mint is the White Fox with black pepper in the mint, and this is the strongest can it comes in on our shelf. Bright green lid, white fox, a small flame by the name, and 16mg a pouch underneath. The brand is made in Sweden by Swedish Smokeless, formerly GN Tobacco, and the pouches are tobacco free. The maker says the flavour comes from essential oils, and that Peppered Mint took months of trying fragrant oils from around the world before it was right. It sits in the Strong line, one rung below Black Edition. Proper flavour, proper number.
Peppermint and black pepper at full volume
The peppermint comes first, cold and clean, and the black pepper follows close behind with a dry warmth at the back of the mouth. Picture a hot mint tea with a crack of pepper in it, the cool and the heat trading places from one moment to the next. At 16mg the two feel more insistent than in the lighter cans, but the balance is the same: mint on top, pepper underneath, neither one taking over. It holds for the whole pouch and finishes clean with a final tingle of spice. Fair play to it.
