Nordic Spirit pouches are fat. Set one next to a slim independent and the difference registers the instant it goes under your lip. They sit thicker, they run drier, and for the first few minutes it is a piece of dry material parked on your gum rather than a pouch doing any work. Ten years of using these things and I will say it plainly. The composition is the weakest thing about this brand. A big, dry, slightly stiff pouch that never lets you forget it is there.

The trade off is real though, and worth understanding before you write it off. Dry and thick means almost no drip. Nothing runs down the back of your throat, nothing pools, and you can wear one through a meeting or a long train without a swallow giving you away. It also means the build is faultless. Twenty five to thirty five minutes and it will not split, sag or shed a thing. First load brings a mild tingle, more cold than nicotine, gone inside a minute.

A discreet pouch that is not quite a comfortable one. Structurally excellent. Never forgettable.

Nordic Spirit and Velo get set against each other constantly, and the honest answer is that they are not applying for the same job. Velo is the finest all rounder we carry and that is a claim about range. It runs from 4mg to 17mg and it will still fit you in five years. Nordic Spirit does not want that job. The range we carry stops at 11mg, and it is better than Velo at the one thing Velo cannot be, which is the first can you ever buy with nothing in it to get wrong. Against Killa at 13.2mg or Pablo at 30mg there is no contest and no argument. Different products, different people, different day.

So here is the verdict. Velo has the better range. Nordic Spirit has the better start. Buy Nordic Spirit for your first year and buy Velo for the five after it.

Nordic Spirit asks almost nothing of you. One exception, and it is timing.

Nordic Spirit is one of the most bought pouch brands in the country. On Haypp's own 2024 numbers it sits second only to Velo for units sold across the two largest online sellers, and Velo, Nordic Spirit and On! between them took 57% of every can shifted. That popularity is exactly why it is on every counter in Britain. It is also why buying it on a counter is a bad habit. The shelf hands you two flavours at whatever strength turned up in the last delivery. It is never going to hand you Tropical Mix at 6mg, because nobody in that shop is thinking about you.
