Grape at 18mg, the top of SNU's grape run
Somebody at SNU clearly grew up on the purple fizzy drink from the party table, because this grape tastes like it, and at 18mg it is the strongest grape on our shelf. SNU Grape 18mg comes from the High line, the third of the brand's four strengths, and it is the top of a three can grape climb. The lid is the usual SNU layout: SNÜ with the two dots, GRAPE in capitals, a tab reading 18MG PER POUCH, six dots all filled and HIGH beneath them, with the scented patch up top that says rub here to smell the flavour. Here's the thing. It is grape soda, not a vineyard, and it makes no apology for that. Proper sweet, proper strong.
Silky grape soda, sweet all the way down
The grape arrives silky and sugary, the drink rather than the fruit bowl, and it is smooth from the first second. Sweetness is the big note and it stays big, with a soft fruitiness underneath that stops it reading as plain sugar. There is no sharp turn and no sour edge anywhere in the pouch. Picture the purple ice pole from the cool box at a barbecue, the one that turned everybody's tongue the same colour. The finish is a gentle grape soda echo on the gum after the pouch is done. The load holds level from the first pouch to the twentieth. Fair play to it.
