Straight up, Spearmint 9mg is the green mint in the long pouch
Straight up, Spearmint 9mg is the can for people who want mint without the deep freeze. Zyn runs spearmint as its softer, greener mint, and this is the first can where it comes in the long pouch with a real number behind it. It sits on Zyn's middle level, the 6 to 13.5mg run that holds most of the lineup. Spearmint goes from 3mg to 11mg at Zyn, and 9mg is the step where the flavor stops being easygoing and starts speaking up. Same mint, more pouch, more behind it.
Smooth spearmint, a cleaner chill, no fade
Real quick, think of the spearmint gum you grab at the checkout on a road trip. That is the opening, smooth and green, with a chill that is clean, never icy. The shop's note on this can says bolder, with sharper cooling and clearer definition than the lighter spearmints, and that is about right. The sweetness sits low, the mint sits up front, and nothing swings around halfway through. First pouch and last pouch taste the same. No surprises.
9mg of nicotine, medium on our scale, and the Spearmint steps around it
Every pouch holds 9mg of nicotine. On our scale that is medium, the band from 8 to 16mg, down toward the softer end of it. Zyn runs three levels, a base from 1.5 to 3.5mg, a middle from 6 to 13.5mg and a top at 16.5mg, and 9mg lands on the middle level. In the Spearmint lineup it is the fourth of five steps: 3mg and 6mg come in the Mini, 6.5mg next, then this can, then 11mg on top. Pouch format is the slim, the long moist one, and the uptake comes on a little faster than a dry Mini. Bottom line, a medium pouch with a green mint on top.

Who picks Spearmint 9mg, and where the green mint goes next
Spearmint 9mg fits adults who have been on the 6mg Mini and want the long pouch with more under it. It also works for anyone who likes mint and wants it softer than peppermint at this number. If 9mg is your number, stay on it. Want the top of the spearmint climb? Zyn Spearmint 11mg is the step above. Want the colder peppermint take at the same 9mg? Zyn Cool Mint 9mg sits right next to it. Grab a can and you're set.
