Helwit Cherry, tart and tangy at 4.5mg
Cherry can lean sweet or lean sharp, and Helwit leans sharp. The can sits in the brand's Regular line at 4.5mg, with Nicotine 3/4 printed on the lid, one step up from the Standard cans. The maker is YOIK AB, a Swedish company with its own plant at Gransholm in Småland, outside Växjö, with Made in Sweden printed down the side of the can. The lid is white with deep red target rings and the flavour name curved round the top. Here's the thing. The maker's own line for it is tart and tangy cherry cheerfulness, and that is a fair description of what is in the can.
Tart cherry up front, sweetness behind it
Pop one in and the cherry lands with a tang, the taste of a cherry drop that has had the sugar dialled back a notch. The tartness is the first thing you notice, bright and lively, and then the sweetness comes in behind it and rounds the whole thing off. The two stay in balance for the whole load, so the last pouch tastes like the first. The finish is clean and a little sharp, in a good way. Proper cherry, with a bit of bite to it.
